COVID-19 Crisis Response

In Winnipeg, we have been practically helping hundreds of newcomer refugee families in the last few years with furniture, jobs, coaching, food, as well as spiritual guidance.  Now with this COVID-19 crisis many of these families are being laid off from work or struggling to make ends meet.  Many may not even able to collect government assistance because they have not been able to secure full-time work, or they were working cleaning contracts for friends. Many do not have much extra income to pay for rent, food, or safety items. We still get daily requests for meeting practical and emotional needs.

Urgent Needs

As a ministry, with Solomon and I as ministry leaders helping Eritreans and other newcomer refugees in Winnipeg, we have the opportunity to contact many of the newcomer families and offer them help with food and other practical needs at this time.  We would like to purchase basic food items and deliver them to these families.  We will be staying in close contact with many families through this crisis to make sure they don’t end up struggling with putting food on their tables.  We have opportunities to help other newcomer nationalities as well.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 to support these vulnerable families with food and assistance during this crisis.

Thank You For Your Prayers & Support

You can help Encountering Hope Ministries Canada respond to the COVID- 19 crisis affecting newcomer refugees in Canada.

We continue to pay the rent for our ministry centre where we store our practical needs and from which we offer spiritual and practical guidance to the newcomers living downtown Winnipeg.  We also have a van that we use for the ministry needs. We thank you for praying for us to be able to practically help these newcomer families who have come to Canada seeking peace and now seem to be overlooked and vulnerable through this crisis.
