2022 Year-End Overview
Can you imagine trying to cook, clean, or read in the dark? Globally Approximately 770m (10%) of the world’s population still does not have access to electricity and 590m (77%) of these people reside in the Sub-Saharan African region. Sub-Saharan Africa is the only region where the number of people without electricity access has increased from 2000-2019. This truth is hard to fathom when electricity is right at our fingertips. In 2013, Empower2Transform partnered to develop the first of two medical clinics in the Amazon jungle. These clinics now have solar power for lights and refrigeration for vaccines and other medications.

At Empower2Transform, our vision is to inspire community transformation by providing innovative renewable energy solutions. This transformation begins through a relationship with Christ, resulting in people loving others. We desire to convey expressions of God’s love, empowering communities to build schools and clinics, improving existing services like potable water and communications, and creating opportunities for micro-businesses and social enterprises that alleviate poverty and give purpose. Urgent Needs
Would you join with us to provide power for 100 families like the following 3 families in Uganda?
Back in May 2022, we met these families in Kibaale, Uganda. These families only lived meters from each other, but their need for power was the same. Each family meets that need in unique ways.
First, we visited Sarah and her family of 5 living in an 8ft x 10ft home for the last 8 years. The house was built on bare ground, as a result, when it rained the water would stream through. We discovered their only light in the home was a small LED bulb hanging from a c-cell battery. As the husband struggled to find work, they relied on their small garden to provide all their food.
Second, we visited Rachel who lived with her husband and 5 children. Someone donated to them a 14ft by 14ft home that cost $5,600. But her new home still did not have lights, except for a small paraffin lamp. They hoped their son would receive a good education, food, and clothing at the Kibaale Community school. His success was imperative as they had lost 8 other children. I asked her, “What would you do if you had light in your home?” Her face lit up, as she unexpectedly said, “I would do women’s hair.” She was a budding entrepreneur.
Third, we strolled a few meters to Cecilia’s home. She not only had a solar panel on the roof, but also a lead-acid battery charged by the panel. Even though the battery would last 3 years, she made money by charging people’s cell phones. She also had satellite dishes for showing, and charging to watch, Bollywood movies. This was a small snapshot of how our Lithium Iron Phosphate power stations that are safe and long-lasting can make a difference in a family.
Imagine not having power to light your home to study by, to keep food fresh in your fridge, or to cook in your oven. Each year those in the west average 29 kWh daily of electricity. That’s an annual average of 10715 kWh. If each family gave just 2 cents per kilowatt hour each year, about $214, to help a family in the Democratic Republic of Congo or in Uganda, they could provide a family with electrical power for 10 years. Would you consider giving a donation of $214 to help one of 100 families, like Rachel’s or Sarah’s, to have the ability to study or cook or even start their own home business?
