Nestled in the tranquil rural expanse near the bustling city of Gemena, lies a region with a story of stark contrasts. This is the North-West section of the Democratic Republic of Congo, a place marked by both breathtaking natural beauty and heartbreaking challenges. It’s regarded as one of the poorest regions globally, where the weight of extreme poverty is felt daily. Here, the high infant and maternal mortality rates serve as somber indicators of the struggles faced by its residents. In the vast landscape of Congo, over 4 million orphans try to find their way in a world that often forgets them.

In a landscape where despair can feel overwhelming, FOSASA, Lischa, and Max stand as beacons of hope. Their dedication to serving these vulnerable orphans, their commitment to empowering young leaders, and their belief in the transformative power of genuine partnerships paint a picture of change in progress.

Through their efforts, the narrative of North-West Congo is shifting, from one of hardship to one of promise, one child at a time. Max and Lischa bring more than just their passion to this mission. Their approach to ministry is deeply rooted in the ethos of ‘give-and-take’, echoing the sentiments of 2 Corinthians 8. They see a world where profound material wealth in some nations contrasts sharply with dire lack in others. To them, true equality and reconciliation can only be achieved through genuine partnerships that acknowledge the strengths of each party. Their belief in humble collaboration is the driving force behind their work with FOSASA and its partners.

FOSASA’s mission is to provide holistic care for over 80 vulnerable children at Mama Sabuli’s Children’s Centre, focusing on their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Beyond the orphanage, FOSASA’s impact reaches into the wider community through projects in agriculture, education, and healthcare, recognizing that lasting change comes from addressing diverse needs.

Ministry Overview:

In the heart of North-West Congo, Max and Lischa Woodley, alongside FOSASA, are beacons of hope for vulnerable orphans. Rooted in the ethos of ‘give-and-take’ from 2 Corinthians 8, they bridge the gap between wealth and need, envisioning equality through their work. FOSASA, under their guidance, provides holistic care at Mama Sabuli’s Children’s Centre for over 80 children, while also extending their impact through community projects. This narrative of hope centers on the empowerment and well-being of each child they touch.

Prayer Request:

Pray for Max and Lischa’s ministry, that through their work, more orphans can find hope through Jesus. May their efforts continue to be a beacon of light in North-West Congo, bringing comfort, healing, and the love of Christ to those in need.
